بڑھے جو حبس تو شاخیں ہلا دینا کہ اب ہم کو

ہوا کے ساتھ جینا ہے ہوا کے ساتھ مرنا ہے

مبادا اس کو دقت ہو نشانے تک پہنچنے میں

سو میں نے پھول سے دیوار کے رخنے کو بھرنا ہے

یہی اک شغل رکھنا ہے اذیت کے دنوں میں بھی

کسی کو بھول جانا ہے کسی کو یاد کرنا ہے

کوئی چہرہ نہ بن پایا مقدر کی لکیروں سے

سو اب اپنی ہتھیلی میں مجھے خود رنگ بھرنا ہے

کوئی رستہ ملے کیوں کر مرے پائے خجالت کو

یہاں تو پاؤں دھرنا بھی کوئی الزام دھرنا ہے

وہ ہر لمحہ دعا دیتے ہیں لمبی عمر کی تابشؔ

مجھے لگتا ہے پیاروں کو بھی رخصت میں نے کرنا ہے
