Sindh Assembly
158 members of the Sindh Assembly cast their vote in the presidential election with five lawmakers abstaining. According to reports Aitzaz Ahsan received 100 votes, Arif Alvi 56 votes and Fazlur Rehman received one vote.
One was dismissed in the election.
According to the electoral system, Aitzaz received 39 votes and Alvi 22 votes.
Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh performed the duty of presiding officer.
Early life and education[edit]
Ahsan was born on September 27, 1945 in Murree, Punjab.[1][2] He belongs to a Jat family of the Warraichclan,[3] and grew up in Lahore.[4]
He received his early education from Aitchison College. He then enrolled in Government College, Lahore and later studied law at Downing College, Cambridge.[5][1][2][4] He was at Gray's Inn in 1967.[5]He then appeared in Central Superior Services examination[1] where he reportedly topped.[2] He however did not join the government service.[1]
